BARONS AND COX CONVENTION CENTER LOOKING FOR 2 VOLUNTEERS TO HELP PAINT THE ICE SURFACE
By Josh Evans, OKC Barons
Although the home opener for the Oklahoma City Barons is seven weeks from now, preparations for the 2012-13 hockey season are well underway. The biggest piece of the puzzle is the creation of the ice surface at the Cox Convention Center. The staff of the Cox Convention Center and the Barons are looking for two volunteers to assist in creating the ice surface for the 2012-13 hockey season.
The morning of September 17, crews from the Cox Convention Center begin the process of installing the ice surface on the floor of the building. The day starts with chilling the floor to the proper temperature, then the addition of several coats of white paint-laced water before the addition of the lines, circles, creases and logos. Two lucky Barons fans can be there assisting. Fans that enter must be at least 18 years of age or older.
SMG and the Barons are choosing two fans to spend the entire day (or part of the day) at the Cox Convention Center installing the ice surface. If chosen, you will have paint spilled on your clothes, so wear something you don’t mind getting dirty. Fans may enter a variety of ways, including clicking here, taking the survey below, the Barons Facebook page and by monitoring the team’s Twitter feeds.
The Barons home opener is October 19 against the San Antonio Rampage at the Cox Convention Center at 7 p.m. A variety of ticket packages are available to meet every individual or group need. Packages ranging from 7-game and 11-game packs to Full Season Seats are available. Call the Barons’ front office at 405-232-4625 for information on groups, Season Seats and other ticket packages.
