BARONS CELEBRATE HOCKEY WEEKEND ACROSS AMERICA

The Oklahoma City Barons, in conjunction with USA Hockey, are participating in Hockey Weekend Across America, February 28-March 2.
The festivities surrounding the three-day Hockey Weekend Across America include Wear Your Jersey to Work Day Friday, February 28, a Try Hockey for Free day Saturday, March 1 and Hockey Heroes Day Sunday, March 2.
The first event of Hockey Weekend Across America begins with fans wearing the jersey of their favorite team to their office or workplace on Friday, February 28. Take a picture of yourself wearing the jersey of your favorite team (preferably the Barons), upload that picture to Facebook and tag the team’s official accounts or tag the team’s account on Instagram (@OKCBarons). Everyone who uploads a picture will be entered for the chance to win a Zamboni ride at a future OKC Barons home game. Pictures submitted in poor taste will not be considered.

Saturday, March 1, youth ages 4-9 are encouraged to try hockey for free with a session at the Cox Convention Center, beginning at 1 p.m. Registration is only available online through USA Hockey’s event website, www.TryHockeyForFree.com. Equipment will be provided for the event.
Beginning February 24, fans can nominate an Oklahoma City resident as #MyLocalHockeyHero. Fans may submit two photos, the nominee's name and contact information and a short 350 word nomination to firstname.lastname@example.org before 8 p.m. CT on Sunday, March 2. The winning individual will be honored at a Barons home game later in the season.
In addition to the USA Hockey sanctioned activities, the Oklahoma City Barons host three home games, taking on the Rockford Ice Hogs Friday and Saturday and the San Antonio Rampage Sunday afternoon. Barons Night on Friday Night with $2 draft beer and $1 hot dogs from 6 – 8 p.m.
Saturday, the largest promotion in Oklahoma sports history continues when someone drives away in a brand new car in the Drive Away Every Saturday contest on March 1. The Barons weekend concludes Sunday afternoon when fans are invited to the ice to skate with their favorite Barons following the game. Anyone that plans to be on the ice must wear skates. Skates are provided at no charge. Sign up at the Barons information desk outside of The Edge.
