BARONS AGREE TO TERMS WITH FORWARD AUSTIN FYTEN ON AN AHL CONTRACT

The Oklahoma City Barons agreed to terms with forward Austin Fyten to an AHL contract, General Manager Bill Scott announced today.
Fyten, a 6-2, 205-pounder from Sundre, Alberta split time last season between the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL and the Texas Stars in the AHL. In 57 games between the two clubs, he recorded 43 points (14-29-43) while serving 59 penalty minutes.
Prior to turning pro, Fyten played three-plus seasons with the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League. During those seasons with Lethbridge, he appeared in 193 games, scored 122 points (55-67-122) and served 287 penalty minutes. His best season came in his final season with the Hurricanes when he recorded 54 points (24-30-54) in 52 games. His point total was good for second on the club.
Fyten joins forwards Matt Ford, Derek Nesbitt, C.J. Stretch and Erick Lizon and defenseman Joey Leach as players signed by the Barons for the 2013-14 season.
Hockey season begins in Oklahoma City on Friday, September 27 with the NHL Showcase presented by Mercy when the Edmonton Oilers host the Dallas Stars in an NHL Preseason game. For more information about tickets, call the Barons office at 232-GOAL.
Oklahoma City opens their 38-game home schedule with a weekend set of games October 4 and 5. In addition to the home opener, the Barons are scheduled to play at home November 12, 15 and 16 and December 20 and 21. The Barons annual Education Field Trip Day will be November 12. The remainder of the schedule will be announced later this summer.
