The Oklahoma City Barons, AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, submitted their roster for their season opening games on the road this weekend against the Lake Erie Monsters.

Barons head coach Todd Nelson has 17 players returning from the 11-12 squad that won 45 games, won the West Division and Western Conference regular season titles and advanced to the Western Conference Finals in the Calder Cup playoffs. Among those returnees is 2011-12 AHL Goaltender of the Year Yann Danis; forwards Mark Arcobello, Tanner House, Curtis Hamilton, Teemu Hartikainen, Chris VandeVelde, Tyler Pitlick, Josh Green, Antti Tyrvainen, Anton Lander, Magnus Paajarvi, Ryan Martindale and Cameron Abney; defensemen Colten Teubert, Alex Plante, and Dan Ringwald and Martin Marincin. Oklahoma City’s roster is full of players with NHL experience. None more so than Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle. Nugent-Hopkins, the #1 overall selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft was a finalist last season for the Calder Trophy, awarded annually to the top first-year player in the National Hockey League. Eberle has led his team in scoring each of his first two seasons in the NHL and was nominated for the Lady Byng Trophy, presented annually to the
player judged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability. Including Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins, the Barons roster features 11 players with NHL experience.

The Barons skate in their first games of the season this Friday and Saturday in Cleveland, Ohio against the Lake Erie Monsters, AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. Friday’s game can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY at 6:30 p.m. (ct). Saturday’s game can be heard on AM-1340 at noon (ct). Jim Byers returns for his third straight season to handle the play-by-play.

The game can also be viewed on AHL Live. The pay-per-view service allows fans to watch games on a game-by-game basis or allows fans to purchase a season-long pass.
