The Oklahoma City Barons swapped goaltenders with the their ECHL affiliate in Bakersfield, Calif. Edmonton assigned goaltender Laurent Brossoit to Bakersfield, while the Barons recalled goaltender Chet Pickard on loan from Bakersfield.

Brossoit was acquired by the Oilers in a trade with the Calgary Flames on November 8 and was assigned to Oklahoma City. With the Barons, he has appeared in seven games.

Pickard was signed to an AHL contract by the Barons in early November and was assigned to Bakersfield where he’s appeared in 10 games. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native, has played professionally with Djurgardens IF in Stockholm, Sweden, with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL and the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. Pickard has 104 North American professional games on his resume with a 2.82 goals against average and .890 save percentage. His record stands at 38-46-9 in 5,700 minutes played.

Prior to his professional experience, the 6-2 Pickard played for the Tri-City Americans in the WHL for four seasons. Pickard was a first round selection, 18th overall, by the Nashville Predators in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Friday, December 20 is Barons Night with $2 draft beer and $1 hot dogs from 6-8 p.m.  Following the game, fans can come to the ice to shoot a puck from center ice into an empty net.  Those who are successful will receive a coupon from the Barons and Schwab Meats for a holiday ham.

Saturday, December 21 is the annual Teddy Bear Toss Night.  The Barons are looking for new and gently used stuffed animals for donation to EMSA.  When the Barons score their first goal against the Texas Stars on December 21, the fans will be asked to throw their stuffed animals toward the ice. The stuffed animals will be collected and donated to EMSA for use in breaking the ice with children who have been involved in a traumatic incident.

Both games feature an opportunity to own a festive piece of holiday wear decorated by the Barons players.  For the third straight season, Barons players are decorating small Christmas trees in a manner that is appealing to them.  Some of the more interesting designs from seasons past have included an iPod and iTunes gift cards, trees dedicated to fishing and to golf.  The decorated trees will be on display on the upper concourse near The Edge Team Store where fans can place bids on the trees.  All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Barons Buddies Program.

The game on December 21 is also a Drive Away Every Saturday game.  One lucky fan will win a 2013 Honda CR-Z.  All you have to do is attend the game.

Faceoff for both games is 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center. A holiday pack is a great gift for the hockey fan in your life.  For just $99, you can purchase six undated flex tickets and a 64 oz. Barons Mega Mug.  Call the Barons’ front office at 405-232-4625 for more information.
