Jack Campbell turned away 36 shots as the Texas Stars shut out the Oklahoma City Barons 3-0 Sunday afternoon at the Cox Convention Center. The Barons (18-15-2-3) out-shot the Stars, 36-16 in the game, but Texas (22-11-3-2) scored goals in the first and third periods en route to the win.

The Barons out-shot the Stars 7-5 in the first period, but the Stars came away with a 1-0 lead at the first intermission. Matt Fraser scored his fifth goal of the year at 8:37 with the Stars on the power play. Fraser floated his shot from the right circle up over Olivier Roy to give Texas a 1-0 lead.

Oklahoma City got two shots on goal each from Anton Lander and Mark Arcobello. The Barons best scoring chance came from Philippe Cornet, who had a great chance in front of the net while the Barons were on the power play late in the period.

Neither team scored in the second period, and the Barons stretched the shots on goal lead to 18-11, out-shooting the Stars 11-6 in the frame.

Tyler Pitlick led Oklahoma City with three shots on goal in the period, while Arcobello added two more. Kristians Pelss also had two for the Barons.

Oklahoma City peppered Campbell with shots during the third period’s first four minutes. Lander had a backhanded chance and Taylor Fedun’s point shot found its way through but the netminder turned away the nine shots the Barons threw at him.

The Stars capitalized off a Barons defensive zone turnover at 3:19 as Colton Sceviour came in all alone on Roy and made it 2-0 Texas. The Barons had several scoring chances late and even hit a few goalposts but were unable to find the back of the net.

Tomas Vincour added an empty-goal with 15.3 seconds remaining to secure the 3-0 win.

Oklahoma City managed to get 18 shots on goal in the third period to out-shoot the Stars 36-16 for the game.

The Barons are in the midst of a five-game homestand. Next weekend the Barons skate in back-to-back games against the San Antonio Rampage. Faceoff for both games next weekend is 7 p.m.CT  Friday night means $1 hot dogs and $2 draft beers from 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday, the Barons are giving away another car in the Drive Away Every Saturday promotion.
