Despite out-shooting the Peoria Rivermen 32-27, the Oklahoma City Barons were unable to capitalize on the scoreboard as the Rivermen downed the Barons 3-1 inside the Cox Convention Center. The Barons (43-20-4-5) lead in the Western Conference over the Toronto Marlies is four points.

Peoria scored the game’s first goal when Mark Cundari’s sharp angle shot found its way past David LeNeveu. The unassisted goal gave the visiting team the 1-0 lead at 14:11 in the first period. The Barons got a power play opportunity late in the period and carried over another to the second frame. Oklahoma City led in shots on goal 13-8 after one.

The Barons were unable to score on the carry-over power play and ended the night 0-for-2 with the man advantage. Oklahoma City led in shots 22-16 after two as the Rivermen continued to lead 1-0 at the second intermission.

The Barons got the equalizer midway through the third as Ryan Keller put in a rebound off Rivermen goalie Jake Allen to even the score 1-1 at 10:14. Josh Green (21) and Antti Tyrvainen (13) picked up the assists.

Peoria responded at 11:20 on a goal from Phil McRae to take a 2-1 lead. The Rivermen then added an empty net goal by Jonathan Cheechoo at 19:56 to secure the 3-1 win.

Oklahoma City continues its final homestand of the regular season with a 7 p.m. CT matchup against the Chicago Wolves at the Cox Convention Center.
