BARONS RALLY PAST STARS 4-3
By Jim Byers,The Oklahoma City Barons took their first lead with 5:05 remaining in the third period as they capped a rally from an early two-goal deficit to beat the Texas Stars 4-3 on Friday at Cedar Park Center.
Mark Arcobello scored from the left-wing faceoff circle for the eventual winner past Tyler Beskorowany to break a 3-3 deadlock at 14:55 of the final period to improve the Barons' record to 38-17-4-4. The Barons lead the West Division by 12 points and the Western Conference by seven.
The Barons trailed 2-0 after one period and 3-2 after two before scoring the game's final two goals in the third to win for the fourth time this season when trailing by a 2-0 margin at some point.
Ryan Keller and Bryan Helmer had Oklahoma City's goals in the second period to erase an early 2-0 Texas lead. Texas scored 1:13 after the opening faceoff when an errant shot by Brenden Dillon caromed off the glass, bounced off goaltender Yann Danis and into the net.
The Stars made it 2-0 at the first intermission on a goal at 13:13, when Mike Hedden received picked up a Barons turnover and broke in alone and beat Danis.
Keller put home the Barons' first goal at 8:26 after a giveaway to make it 2-1. Bryan Helmer followed with a one-timer from the top of the circle on a power play at 12:34.
Texas regained the lead 3-2 after two periods, however, when Matt Fraser scored his 30th of the year on a 2-on-1 past Yann Danis at 19:04, making his first start in two weeks in his first game back from injury. Danis improved to 22-11-1.
Taylor Chorney, who scored two goals on Tuesday, added a tying goal at 3:35 of the third to tie the game 3-3 before Arcobello's winner. Texas dropped its third straight to fall to 27-31-2-2. The Barons have won back-to-back games and have standing points in five straight, six of seven and seven of nine.
The same teams meet on Saturday at 7 pm CDT at Cedar Park Center.
