TODAY: The Barons host the Texas Stars (Dallas Stars) in the first of 12 meetings between the South Division rivals. OKC won 8 of the 10 head-to-head matchups last season. This is Game 5 of a season-high 7-game homestand, during which OKC is 2-2-0-0. The Barons enter today’s contest off a 6-4 loss to Houston on Friday, a game that was tied 4-4 after 2 periods. Texas has not played since defeating Milwaukee 3-1 on Wednesday at Cedar Park Center. That snapped a 3-game losing streak for the Stars, who like the Barons are 3-3-0-0 on the season.
 
PENALTY PATTER: The Barons amassed a club-record 51 penalty minutes in Friday’s 6-4 loss to Houston. The previous high was 48 on Nov. 25, 2011 at Grand Rapids. OKC has drawn a game misconduct in 2 straight games, Antti Tyrvainen on Tuesday and Dane Byers on Friday. The 2011-12 Barons drew 4 game misconducts all season. Colten Teubert set a team high for PIM in a game this season with 17 on Friday when he was assessed a minor for instigation, major for fighting and 10-minute misconduct in the third period.
 
TEEMU’S STREAK REACHES 5:Teemu Hartikainen has an assist in 5 straight games, matching the current and league highs this season. Hartikainen also has 2 goals during the streak.
 
TWO AND HOLDING: The Barons have had a player record a 2-goal game in consecutive contests: Mark Arcobello on Friday and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Tuesday. OKC’s other 2-goal game this season was by Justin Schultz on Oct. 19. OKC has not recorded a hat trick since 2011 AHL goal champion Colin McDonald potted 4 at San Antonio on April 8, 2011. OKC has 20 two-goal games by individuals since the last hat trick (3 this season and 17 in 2011-12) .
 
STREAKING SCHULTZ: Justin Schultz leads the Barons in goals (4) and assists (6) through the first 6 games. Schultz is the only Baron to register a point in each contest. His 6-game point streak is tied for second in the AHL in 2012-13. Schultz is tied with Houston’s Mikael Granlund for the lead in rookie scoring with 10 points and is tied with Rochester’s T.J. Brennan for the lead in defensemen scoring.
 
SCHULTZ NAMED CCM/AHL PLAYER OF WEEK: Defensemen Justin Schultz is the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 21, 2012. The rookie out of the University of Wisconsin had 3 goals and 1 assist while a +6 in 2 games last week. Schultz is the first Baron to win this honor since Colin McDonald and Jeff Deslauriers swept player of the week for the final 2 weeks of the 2010-11 campaign.

ODDS AND ENDS: Through the first 6 games, the Barons have not trailed at any intermission...OKC has 20 goals for and against, but has been out-scored 7-3 in the third period...the Barons’ only goals in the third were go-ahead and eventual winners by Justin Schultz (Oct. 13) and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (Oct. 23), plus a shorthanded empty-netter by Schultz Oct. 19...Friday’s game was the Barons’ first this season where they failed to collect at least 30 shots on goal...OKC had 20...Friday marked the first time in club history the Barons lost in regulation when the opposition pulled its starting goalie...Matt Hackett was lifted for Darcy Kuemper at 15:21 of the first after OKC took a 3-2 lead...OKC had been 14-0-1-0 over the previous 2 seasons when chasing the opposing starter, the only blemish being a 4-3 OT loss at Peoria March 7, 2012.
